Arizona Grantmakers Forum Statement on DACA

PHOENIX – Arizona Grantmakers Forum joins our partners in philanthropy, immigrant communities and advocates in urging Congress to act immediately to ensure that the nearly 800,000 immigrants enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program can continue to live, work and learn without fear of deportation.

Arizona is home to 28,000 young people whose parents brought them to the U.S. as children and who are contributing to the economic growth and rich tapestry of our state and country. Rescinding DACA without replacement immigration legislation threatens their safety and security, disrupts businesses and undercuts economic potential for all.

Arizona Grantmakers Forum embraces diversity and inclusion as core values central to our vision of a vibrant Arizona where all people thrive. We commend the leadership of Sens. Jeff Flake and John McCain and Gov. Doug Ducey and join them in supporting a bipartisan approach to immigration that enshrines the principles of DACA and upholds the promise of the American dream for all.
