Funding Civic Engagement in Arizona

20150226

This highly interactive training session included presentations from the California Civic Engagement Funder Collaborative and Arizona funder efforts focused on education, mini case studies highlighting best practices, insights on local Arizona challenges, discussion of opportunities to work collaboratively and shared meanings about the elements of civic engagement. The curriculum was recently developed by Funders’ Committee for Civic Participation and National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, and will be tailored to Arizona grantmakers, building upon the training programs already undertaken by Arizona Grantmakers Forum.

Participants engaged in discussions and activities to:

(1) consider a shared definition of civic engagement

(2) clarify how civic engagement enhances grantmaking outcomes

(3) share successes

(4) help foundations assess civic engagement within their portfolios
